A high performance all season tread is geared more towards grip, with less emphasis on road noise, ergo it is louder. Essentially, part of a grand touring tire's tread design is to lessen road noise (howling or humming or the like). There are plenty of good high performance all season options but, remember, a high performance all season tire will have more road noise than a grand touring tire. That being said, given you have a grand touring run flat, you could step up to a high performance run flat, assuming BMW has not further restricted the lease turn in guidance (you would need to double check that, I doubt it's an issue, but I have not looked recently). You likely don't have a spare tire, so I would keep a run flat set, and summer tires in cold temps can still be dangerous. Assuming you think you may return the car with the next set of tires on it, you should stick with an all season run flat.Įven if that makes no difference to you, given everything you have said, in your case I would still stick with an all season run flat. If you do, you will be dinged for the price of a full set of new tires, at whatever marked up rate they decide. You cannot return the car with any summer tire, run flat or not. Given it's a lease, you will need to return the car with an all season run flat tire. Your car currently has a grand touring all season run flat tire, based on your first post.
